Well yesterday I decided to join both Renee and Lochie on there fishing expedition down at Coombabah. Trip down was eventful with lots of people on their way down to Indy and a nice little storm off in the distance!
Fish weren’t biting to much apart from Renee’s only catch of the day… which came after no more than about 10 minutes! From there on out the rest of the days excitement stemmed around protecting the bait from the local wildlife haha.
I used the day to play around with the camera. Majority of the day was shooting in full manual mode for a change, which seemed to be the only way I could get any decent shots with the lighting differences under the bridge to those of the days conditions in the background.

Well in the end the storm was a bit of a fizzer after being talked up all week in the media. Was 4:00pm when one of the guys at work came up and let me know what was going down, so straight in the van and home it was to move the car undercover!! Upon arriving home I was greeted with the site of both my cars safely undercover!! (Thanks dad) Thought I’d break out the camera and try my luck at some lightning shots during the storm… These didn’t pan out to well as each time I moved locations around the backyard lightning would strike just where I’d been!! Ended up packing up the gear and conceding defeat at that stage.
Later on in the evening the wind picked up and I heard what I thought was hail on the roof outside, I was off like a shot! Out the front I was greeted with a lovely light show. So naturally darted back inside grabbed the camera gear and setup camp in the driveway, as by this stage the rain had subsided! Here’s what I came up with from about 40 minutes worth of shooting. I’ve now discovered I really need to get myself a remote trigger!
